I am a Physics Principal Teacher in a Scottish school. Experienced in all levels of SQA exams (N5,Higher,Adv.Higher). Experienced SQA marker. 19 years teaching experience and previous engineering/business experience.

I am focused on student excellence and am a calm and rigorous teacher. Students will have a relaxed, supportive environment to encourage learning.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive one-to-one tutoring experience and 19 years permanent Physics teaching experience at all SQA levels. I have an excellent track record in pupil attainment. I have SQA marking experience at all SQA levels of exam papers and assignments/projects.

I have two children that have successfully completed SQA exam pathways, university pathways and are now engaged in challenging and exciting careers of their own. So I also understand the parent/family involvement with any pupil sitting exams and engage positively and effectively in any necessary wider support and communication.

I have been the Principal Teacher of Physics at a top performing state school for nine years. The added knowledge and skills that brings in terms of understanding the school and SQA processes and requirements informs my tutoring.

Before teaching I had a successful engineering and management career in the global semiconductor industry, living and travelling extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the U.S.A. During this time I also completed several technical and business post graduate degrees. The communication, interpersonal. technical and industry skills from this time allow me to place the Physics SQA curriculum in wider "real world" context.

Tutoring Approach

I aim to maximize student exam performance. Pace, approach and challenge will be determined by the students understanding. I am a calm and rigorous teacher.
I have a focus on exam technique using SQA exam papers and benchmarks. Students responses to SQA questions will inform the learning and teaching.
My extensive curriculum and SQA marking experience ensures that students learn the detailed requirement and that their attainment improves.
