My name is Kirk, I am the creator of an Online Educational Channel with 1000’s of online subscribers and 100k’s of views. I currently have 37/37 5* reviews on First Tutors. I am currently the Head of Faculty for Mathematics, Computing and Science at a prestigious private school in the North of England. A previous Head of Science at an Oxford International College in China. I am 39 years old and hold a physics degree with honours from the University of Loughborough. I am an enthusiastic teacher and I have a lot of experience and hold a competent track record of having students that drastically exceed national set targets and I have sent scores of students to study physics or engineering related subjects to some of the best universities in the world. I have a plethora of available resources including 100’s of question booklets and PowerPoint resources, and an infinite question generator app that I make available to all my students. This helps them not only learn in sessions but gives them the resources to practice individually and become a competent independent learner also.

Tutoring Experience

have been teaching since 2008. I made head of physics at a relatively young age and was offered head of science at a prestigious international school aged 25. I am currently employed at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. One to one student tuition is exceptionally useful as the progress made is exemplified and much more rapid than the progress made in a larger classroom environment. I have delivered GCSE, iGCSE, AS and A2 level physics for a number of years. I have had previous students attend the following universities; Manchester, UCL, Cambridge, Oxford and also some of the elite American universities such as Princeton. I am heavily involved in EdTech with 265+ video lessons produced watched by 1000’s of students worldwide. I help students prepare for entrance examinations of Oxbridge that contain physics and also have entered scores of students into the Physics Olympiad, students will meet their ability profile and I have helped assist many students to Gold award standards.

Tutoring Approach

I have a rigorous approach to tutoring and I cover all bases. I ask inquisitive open ended questions to probe knowledge and current understanding. I ask questions in manner which makes it easy to eliminate misconceptions and incorrect thinking. I prefer students to think laterally about a novel problem and then approach familiar problems in a critical, methodical manner. I like to perform a series of examination style questions in a way that not only prepares you for exams but also enhances subject knowledge. It is not only important to pass examinations but also prepare students for university level education.
