Hi, I’m Jen – a fully qualified science teacher and Head of A Level Science, based in Cheshire.
I currently teach science across all secondary key stages in a high school setting, specialising in chemistry. In addition to my teaching role, I lead the A Level Science programme and work as a GCSE examiner for a major exam board. This gives me valuable insight into the curriculum, assessment criteria, and effective exam strategies.

Before moving into education, I worked in industry, which allows me to bring real-world scientific applications into the classroom to help students see the bigger picture and understand the relevance of what they’re learning.

I’m passionate about helping students improve both their grades and their confidence in science. I pride myself on being patient, supportive, and motivating—creating a positive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and achieve their full potential.

Tutoring Experience

I qualified as a science teacher in 2009 and have over a decade of classroom experience, teaching all year groups from Key Stage 3 to A Level. I specialise in chemistry at A Level, where I lead the subject and support students in achieving top grades. I also work as a GCSE examiner for a major exam board, which gives me valuable insight into exam technique and what’s needed for success

Tutoring Approach

Every student is different with the past experiences they have had with the subject. I would start by assessing the baseline for the student so that both I and the student had a clear idea of what would primarily focused on in the sessions. I believe that students learn best when they feel relaxed and at ease which is the learning environment I would promote.
