My tutoring sessions focus primarily on GCSE preparation and exam technique, helping students build confidence and clarity in the lead-up to their exams. As someone who has lived with dyslexia and still gone on to earn a Master’s in Civil Engineering, I know firsthand that academic success isn’t about being “wired the right way”—it’s about having the right explanation, the right approach, and the right support.
My journey as a tutor began during my university years, working as an outreach teaching assistant in underachieving schools across Wales. That experience shaped my understanding of how traditional classroom environments can leave many students behind—especially those who learn differently.
Since then, I’ve focused primarily on GCSE exam preparation, supporting students across both foundation and higher tiers. My sessions emphasize exam technique, confidence-building, and tailored explanations that meet each student where they are.
My tutoring approach begins with a generalised set of questions tailored to the student’s age group and exam level. In our first session, we work through these questions across a range of topics to identify personal strengths, gaps in understanding, and areas needing extra focus.
This diagnostic method helps me build a clear picture of how each student thinks and learns. From there, I create a customised plan that blends exam technique, confidence-building, and targeted practice—whether they’re working toward GCSE Foundation or Higher Tier.
