With seventeen years of classroom experience, I am a British-trained and educated English teacher who has taught students of all abilities and backgrounds. In addition to tutoring, I currently work for an educational charity which raises oracy and debating standards, so engaging students in my subject in manifold ways is where I offer expertise, ensuring that students feel more enthusiastic and confident quickly.
I have tutored many 11-plus students successfully and have had students achieve results within the top ten candidates nationally at GCSE and A Level on multiple occasions.
With over twenty-seven years of experience as an educator, working largely in London but also in overseas schools, I offer considerable, proven and adaptable techniques. Having been Head of English at one of London's top independent schools, I am well-versed in what student of all abilities need to demonstrate and where they could improve in order to attain the highest grades.
Drawing on a range of analytical techniques, I equip students with a cogent ability to score marks and develop their written response under examination conditions. Studying Literature should be engaging, relevant and, above all, progressive. By following a lucid essay-plan, students soon become capable and confident writers.
In recent years, providing engaging and closely-focused sessions online has begun to replace in-person tuition, so I have refined my resources to better facilitate remote learning. I am familiar with many platforms which enable real-time interaction so that students benefit from my extensive resources and an immediate response to their work.
