I am passionate about mathematics, valuing both its precision and its wide-ranging real-world applications. A central part of my approach is fostering students’ confidence and enthusiasm for the subject, ensuring their understanding grows with every lesson. While I am committed to preparing students thoroughly for examinations, my broader aim is to inspire curiosity and demonstrate that mathematics can be engaging and enjoyable.
I hold a PhD in Mathematics, which enables me to address questions beyond the scope of the curriculum and provide students with insight into how topics develop as they progress through their studies. In addition, I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting my commitment to high-quality teaching and learning practice.
My fees reflect the depth of my experience and expertise in mathematics. Over the years, I have refined my teaching practice and developed highly effective pedagogical methods to enhance student understanding and confidence. I am well-versed in the most successful approaches to exam preparation and in guiding students to achieve their full potential.
Although I primarily deliver online lessons to support as many students as possible each week, I occasionally offer in-person sessions where I travel to the student. This not only saves you the effort but also provides me with the added benefit of lowering my cholesterol at the same time.
I have been tutoring mathematics for over 10 years, with a particular focus on GCSE and A-level. All of my GCSE students have achieved at least a grade 8, while I have supported over 50 A-level students with a 95% success rate in securing an A or A*. Furthermore, 100% of my A-level students have progressed to their first-choice universities, including leading institutions in both the UK and internationally.
I am highly familiar with all major examination boards, including OCR, Edexcel, and AQA, and have supported students in preparing for entrance examinations at both national and international levels. In addition to core mathematics, I have provided tutoring for students applying mathematical methods within other disciplines, including Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Nursing.
I have spent the past eight years as a lecturer at a London university, an experience that greatly enhances my tutoring. This role has given me a deep understanding of the academic skills and subject knowledge required for students to succeed at higher levels of study. It also allows me to guide students not only in mastering the current curriculum but in preparing effectively for the transition to further and higher education.
My tutoring approach is centred on discovering and nurturing each student’s mathematical potential. I provide continuous feedback on their progress while actively encouraging independent learning, ensuring they develop the confidence and skills to succeed beyond the tutoring environment. From the early stages of study, I introduce students to past paper questions so they become familiar with the style of exam questions, how they are structured, and the way they are marked. This not only builds exam readiness but also helps students to approach assessments with clarity and confidence.
I have extensive experience supporting students with additional needs and am committed to ensuring an inclusive and effective learning experience. Please let me know in advance of any specific requirements so that I can tailor my approach accordingly.
