***Interested in online Maths lessons in small groups (2–3 students) to share the cost of tutoring? If you know others who might be keen, get in touch! I recently taught two students together from the same school (two hours a week) and both exceeded their own expectations, achieving top grades in GCSE Maths and Further Maths last summer.

Now about me…
Hi, I’m Brij, a passionate Maths teacher with 15 years experience at a leading independent school. I love what I do, especially with the increased challenge of the reformed GCSE and A-Level courses.
Outside the classroom, life revolves around my family. Raising two curious kids (ages 8 and 11) is a daily adventure, sometimes tougher than teaching a class! We’re lifelong South Londoners who love woodland walks, camping, theatre trips, and family days out to castles. Both my wife and I are teachers and we’re big believers in learning through play, books, and big questions.
I’ve been teaching Mathematics for nearly 19 years, starting with 3 years at a successful comprehensive school where I taught students from Year 7 through to A-Level. I then moved to a leading independent school, where I’ve been ever since.
I’m passionate about teaching GCSE/IGCSE, A-Level Maths, and GCSE Further Maths—particularly since the newer, more challenging specifications were introduced. These courses push students to reason deeply and truly understand concepts, rather than relying on rote procedures.
I also enjoy teaching the AQA Level 2 Further Maths and FSMQ Additional Maths qualifications, which bridge the gap between GCSE and A-Level while fostering strong mathematical thinking. Alongside teaching, I coordinate UKMT competitions at our school and coach both cricket and football.
Since the reformed GCSE and A-Level Maths specifications were introduced in 2018, students have needed stronger mathematical thinking and intuition to excel. Many rely heavily on memorising formulae and procedures, which may secure mid-level grades but limits their ability to achieve top marks due to a lack of deeper understanding.
My teaching style is interactive and discussion-based, focusing on reasoning, problem-solving, and exploring multiple approaches to concepts. This helps students build true mathematical fluency and confidence, often exceeding their own expectations. I’ve helped many students, who doubted their own ability, go on to achieve top grades.
Support extends beyond lessons… students often send me questions between sessions, and I provide explanations or worked solutions the same day at no additional cost. It is part of my commitment to the students I teach.
If you’re looking for high-quality tutoring, whether for individual or shared small-group lessons (2–3 students), feel free to get in touch. The lesson price remains fixed regardless of group size, making it easy to share costs and creating an opportunity to have multiple lessons in a week to help drive their academic performance.
