Maths Tutoring in Glasgow

I am an enthusiastic problem solver, who enjoys doing daily crossword puzzles, wordle etc, as well as Maths and Physics problems. I am thoroughly familiar with the current Higher Maths course having worked through the coursebook in recent times. I am soon to embark on further studies in maths myself through the Open University. My previous degree was in Physics and Electronic Engineering, both of which had high mathematical content.
I do a variety of voluntary work these days and wish to make time for giving tuition. I believe this will be a satisfying experience for me.

Tutoring Experience

I am the son of two retired teachers, one Primary and the other Physics/Maths. I enjoy discussing Maths and Physics problems with my father. Whilst an undergraduate at the University of Glasgow I spent time at weekends giving tuition to Standard Grade/Higher pupils. I am keen to now build on this past experience.

Tutoring Approach

To succeed in school-level Mathematics, it is essential that the student can satisfactorily complete problems at all levels of difficulty, across the subject. In preparation for tutorials, I woud set him/her several questions, either from the coursebook, or from past papers. We would then look to solve perhaps the harder-type problems, including any that had not come out with the correct answer for the student. My own preparation would involve making sure I can complete the problems that I am setting the student with.

At the first meeting, I would look to establish what material has already been covered in class and any aspects of the syllabus that are proving particularly problematic. Generally, we would be focussing on such areas as well as looking to improve skills and instill confidence in all areas of the course.
