Personal Description:

I have been a busy freelance clarinet and saxophone player for many years working with almost every symphony and opera orchestra in the UK, enjoying especially long associations with the London Philharmonic, Royal Opera and BBC Symphony orchestras. I have played in almost 500 sessions resulting in multiple film and TV soundtracks in addition to classical and commercial recordings. I also have worked extensively in West End theatres as well with The Royal National Theatre and RSC along with many leading ballet and contemporary dance companies. I have played in various jazz and rock bands including appearances at the Bracknell and London Jazz Festivals and a European tour with Peter Gabriel. I have been a member of the Myrha Saxophone Quartet and currently perform with The Clarinet Collective. For almost ten years I was the specialist woodwind reviewer for the BBC Music Magazine.

Tutoring Experience:

Running alongside my career as a performer, I have had a continuous involvement with education at all levels from Prep School to Music College. I have taught for the Inner London Education Authority and at a number of leading private schools including Harrow, Benenden, Sevenoaks, Magdalen College School, Abingdon and St.Edward's Oxford; prep schools include Chandlings Manor, Abingdon Prep and Cothill and positions have been held at London, Southampton, Bath Spa and Kingston Universities and The Royal College of Music Junior Department. I currently work at Europa School UK and am developing a private practice based at my home studio. In addition I have given masterclasses and examined at Trinity Laban Conservatiore of Music and Dance and the The Royal College of Music.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy teaching all ages and have pupils spanning seven decades. My extensive and diverse experience in both performing and education informs my work as a teacher and equips me to offer a full service for beginners through to aspiring professionals. Every student has a tailored approach according to their personal aims and all lessons have piano accompaniment where necessary. I am passionate about involving students of any level the opportunity to enjoy group playing and run clarinet and saxophone ensembles catering for all standards in which most of the repertoire is arranged by me, with parts bespoke for each member.
